Projects
Del Mar Post Office
Our first project in 1992. Bill Teague and Linda Chisari added boulders along a rambling pebble stream bed. A tall yucca anchors the space. The garden evolved to become more drought tolerant. Key plants include Psoraleas with fragrant purple flowers in the spring, Furcraeas with yellow and green striped leaves, spring bulbs, succulents, and asters in the fall. This garden has recently been renovated with a generous donation from the Del Mar Foundation.

Del Mar Library
A showstopper on Camino Del Mar at 13th Street, this garden was recently renovated by Jeremy Spath of Water’s Path Landscaping Design. Walk by to see a mostly native garden, brilliant with color and drought tolerance. Look for the bottle tree from Australia, the colorful African Tulip Tree, Salvia clevelandii ‘Pozo Blue’, a magnificent sculpture by James Hubbell, many succulents, and so much more! The renovation of this garden was made possible by a generous donation from the Del Mar Foundation.

Crest Rim Park
This garden of natives was created by the Garden Club in 2008, and has been recently renovated by Jeremy Spath of Water’s Path Landscaping Design. Stroll with your dog and enjoy canyon vistas and vibrant colors: blue salvias, white salvias, golden monkey flowers, purple verbenas, golden California poppies, red California fuchsias, a gorgeous wart stemmed ceanothus covered in white flowers in the spring, and the rare Del Mar Manzanita. We are grateful to the Del Mar Foundation for making this renovation possible.

Del Mar Community Building Garden
We created this garden with found rocks and plants, starting with large rocks from Del Mar Public Works, which were dumped in a corner in front of the Community Building. We added succulents (mostly agaves) from our own gardens and mulch from Public Works. Large trees anchor the space. Walk south to see a colorful mosaic succulent display created by Mara Bickett and Becky Deller. Thanks to the Del Mar Foundation, which helped us renovate this space with a new DG path and benches.

15th Street Medians
Three medians on 15th Street just east of Camino Del Mar were renovated around 2009 under the artistic direction of Linda Teague. We filled the spaces with colorful succulents including “Sticks on Fire” euphorbias, agaves, aloes, aeoniums, and more. For people looking for low maintenance, low water garden ideas, this is the place to study while sipping a coffee from one of our many coffee houses close by.

Post Office Kiosk Display
Our members create displays which can be garden- themed, seasonal, educational or purely artistic as we hope to add something of interest to passers-by. The kiosk structure was originally created by John Coughlin and recently updated by Paul Addison. The display is generally changed every two weeks.

Storefront Project
Partnering with the Del Mar Foundation, our talented and creative Storefront committee has worked for several years with downtown Del Mar merchants to beautify the areas in front of retail and restaurants.
